Hand inked pages!!!

These are various panels from a set of pages that I recently finished for a movie pitch package. The roughs were done in sketchbook pro and brought into Photoshop for editing, then were printed in blue on marker paper. The panels were blown up so that 1 or 2 panels were printed on a full 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. When scanned back in and reduced back to its original size, it sharpens up the lines.
So I inked these with an assortment of markers. Pen tip as well as brush tips, and sharpies are great for filling in large black areas. Inking the panels took about 2 hrs a page, with lots of breaks to let ink dry.
This was a ton of fun since I've been almost completely digital for the last several years, and no crtl-z to work with!!!! I know that I was going to scan them in again and make fixes, but still I got a rush out of it!
So now I'm going to try and work this way for a while and see what happens.

But recently I've been able to focus more time to it and I thought I'd put up a page here just to get some feedback if possible, and also just to let people know that I'm still going.

Concept to Creation pt2

This is part 2 of Concept to Creation. In Sketchbook Pro ( what I use to draw on the computer), I lowered the opacity of the original layer and added a new layer for clean lines. I work from foreground to background and put my lines down as fast and clean as I can. This pass took me a half hour as that was all the time I had available. Part 3 will have more of the drawing cleaned up.

Heya,
This post (and subsequent posts) is like the title says. I am going to try and show how I go from concept to creation. Over on the drawingboard (www.drawingboard.org) they have monthly drawing jams based on a character or theme (in the Superheroes section) and people submit their drawings based on that for comments and critiques....and some fun too! It's a great idea for professionals who just want to draw something for themselves after a long day of working for the man!....and the plus side is that you don't have to think of the concept yourself!
Anyways, this is the rough sketch of the Marines fighting off Aliens, with a Predator ready for some action too!

I'm trying to work on singular drawings that make the viewer want to know more about the story. These will be quick sketches with personality and atmosphere as the main goals.

Remember the Titans from the 80's....(silence)...I do anyways.
And DC has decided to relaunch the series with the old team,for some reason, and they decide to do a half-ass attempt at it. It saddens me to see a group with such potential reduced to crap by people with no vision for the project.
This drawing was my attempt to show what I feel the Titans should have been for a relaunch.

I was checking out some of the old BMW short films and got inspired so I did this piece . Also, it's hard for me to correctly place characters in cars and stuff, so it was a nice way to see how a person fits into a car.

Here's another image I wanted to add to my blog. This was done late at night in sketchbook Pro, after a couple hours of drawing other things. I'm finding that what some of the teachers said about warming up before you draw is actually correct. It takes me a couple of hours to really get my style where I like it, unfortunately I usually don't have a few hours to warm up.
Ah well, this was just a sort of experimental image in the use of colors and layers. I'm not much of a color guy, so I thought I should get on it since my black and white isn't getting any better.

Hi there,
My name is Drew and this is my first post on my first blog site. I've surfed other blog sites and it is enjoyable to see what people are doing and thinking, but I never really thought I would. Also, I've been forced to do this because I want to start posting on the House of Cool blog ( I work there...), but in spite of that I will try and do this with some enthusiasm and some all that other good stuff.....

Here is my first pic of Wolverine rising out of the water (for some reason). This was done in Sketchbook Pro and is one of the few drawings that I do for myself these days as I am kept extremely busy at work (see above bastards).
